" The teachers and I will share with you our vision and
expectations in terms of attendance, arriving on time, doing the home
work and being prepared for classes. This will be followed by
discussion, where parents are welcomed and encouraged to share their
thoughts and suggestions. This is very important to us. We shall talk
about Masjid and Islamic etiquette with the students.
" Each teacher will call his/ her students names. The teacher will
inform the students of the location of their class. Students and their

Saudi Announcement To Change Eid ul Adha Date
Today, January 14, the Hajj Authority of the Saudi Government have announced a change in their earlier statement, saying that according to Ummul Qura calendar, the standing at Arafat will be on January 19 and Eid ul Adha on January 20.
Moon sighting on January 10 was astronomically ruled out in Saudi Arabia. The new moon was born at 12:03 Universal Time on January 10 and was only 3 hours old in Saudi Arabia. It set 3 minutes before the sunset. Therefore, sightability on January 10 was totally incredible.
ISNA stands by its earlier decision that Eid ul Adha in North America will, insha'Allah, be on Friday, January 21, as announced earlier.

Eid ul Adha 1425 (January 2005)
ISNA is pleased to announce that Eid ul Adha will be on Friday, January 21, 2005. The Hajj Authority in Mecca as well as the Moon Sighting Committee in North America have both announced that Wednesday 12 January 2005 is the beginning of Zul Hijjah, and Friday 21 January 2005 will be Eid ul Adha (Eid of Sacrifice) with Muslims around the world celebrating the day of Eid in solidarity.
We pray Allah will accept and bless the Hajjis (pilgrims) as they fulfill this most beautiful religious obligation, joining together with millions of other Muslims to worship Allah, The One Almighty, Creator and Sustainer of us all. We pray for those who have perished in the recent tsunami, and for the many people who are suffering around the world. We encourage everyone to donate generously to the tsunami relief efforts to help the survivors rebuild their lives and their communities. We encourage every Muslim to pray for and to make great efforts to bring peace and justice as well as relief from suffering for all of humanity. Eid mubarak. |

by ISNA
In a conference call today, Nov 5, 2004, the presidents of ISNA, ICNA, Chairman of Fiqh Council of North America reviewed the astronomical data available about the sighting of the moon on Nov12, and reached at the following conclusion:-
The moon's conjunction will occur on Friday, November 12, 2004, at 14:28 Universal Time, i.e., 9:28 a.m. Eastern Standard Time and 6:28 a.m. Pacific Standard Time. This moon will be 10 hours old at sunset on the West Coast of the U.S. on November 12 and will set almost with sunset. On November 13 it will be easily seen in North America.

by ISNA
"Oh ye who believe! Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you,
that ye may (learn) self-restraint," Quran II:183
The Islamic Society of North America, in consultation with the Fiqh Council of North America, will follow the position taken by the Islamic Shura Council of North America, which is: A CONFIRMED CRESCENT SIGHTING REPORT IN NORTH AMERICA WILL BE ACCEPTED AS LONG AS SUCH A REPORT DOES NOT CONTRADICT INDISPUTABLE ASTRONOMICAL INFORMATION.
RAMADAN: The available data indicates that the moon's conjunction will occur on Thursday, October 14, 2004, at 2:49 Universal Time i.e., Wednesday, October 13, 2004 at 10:49 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (7:49 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time). On October 14, the moon's age will be 22.4 hours at sunset on the West Coast of the US and still unlikely to be seen because it will be in the southern hemisphere, and will be very low on the horizon in the northern hemisphere. This moon will be thin and less bright than the background sunlight on the horizon. Therefore, it will be VERY DIFFICULT to see the Hilal on the evening of Thursday, October 14, 2004, if at all. If the Hilal is not visible, 30 days of Sha’ban will be completed and Ramadan will start on the evening of October 15, making the first day of Ramadan in North America on Saturday, October 16, 2004, insha'Allah.
SHAWWAL: The moon's conjunction will occur on Friday, November 12, 2004, at 14:28 Universal Time, i.e. 9:28 a.m. Eastern Standard Time and 6:28 a.m. Pacific Standard Time. This moon will be 10 hours old at sunset on the West Coast of the US on November 12 and will set almost with sunset. On November 13 it will be easily seen in North America. Therefore, Eid-al-Fitr in North America is expected to be on Sunday, November 14, 2004, insha'Allah.
ISNA is prepared to receive moon sighting reports on the evening of Thursday, October 14, 2004, for Ramadan, and on the evening of Saturday, November 13 for Shawwal. The reports will be evaluated for authenticity. Please do not leave messages requesting moon sighting and Ramadan information as ISNA is unable to return your call on that evening.
PROCEDURES FOR TAKING MOON SIGHTING REPORTS: ISNA will take the information and have its consultants call you for further details to verify the sighting. Please stay by your phone and keep the line open. A conference call will be held with members of Islamic Shura Council of North America. It will include the leaders of the National Shura member organizations, members of the Fiqh Council, Muslim astronomer consultants, and sighting coordinators at the ISNA headquarters. They will review the reports and reach a conclusion regarding the beginning of the Islamic lunar month.
The decision will be immediately posted on the Internet: http://www.isna.net, http://www.Hilal-Sighting.Com and http://moonsighting.com
FOR GENERAL INFORMATION, please call 317-839-8157.
TO REPORT A MOON SIGHTING, please dial 317-839-1803.

The Majlis
Ash-Shura of the Islamic Council of New England, in consultation with
the Fiqh Council of North America regarding the start of Ramadan and Eid

North America, which is ...
A CONFIRMED CRESCENT SIGHTING
REPORT IN NORTH AMERICA WILL BE ACCEPTED AS LONG AS SUCH A REPORT DOES
NOT CONTRADICT INDISPUTABLE ASTRONOMICAL INFORMATION.
This decision will be in effect
for this year 2003. Below please see the announcement made by ISNA for
this year:
RAMADAN: The available data
indicates that the moon's conjunction will occur on Saturday, October
25, 2003, at 12:50 UT i.e., 8:50 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time and 5:50
a.m. Pacific Daylight Time. On October 25, the moon's age will be less
than 13 hours at sunset on the West Coast of the US. It will be
impossible to see in North America because it will be very low on the
horizon and not far enough from the sun (only about 7 degrees). On
October 26, the moon will be able to be seen in most of the world.
Therefore, the first day of Ramadan for North America will be Monday,
October 27, 2003, insha'Allah.
