IAGH President Announcements and Activities

Assalaamualaikum dear brothers and sisters,
Alhamdulillah we now have all 5 Salat in jama’ah at the masjid.
Every Esha we have a khatira with the Imam (Esha is at 9:30pm at the moment). Please try to attend a prayer in the masjid so we can make the masjid more vibrant. Prayer times at present are Fajr at 5am, Dhuhr at 1:15pm, Asr at 5:30pm Maghrib at sunset and Esha at 9:30pm.
Every Friday there will be a lecture after Maghrib – Imam Refai Arefin and Chaplain Kaiser Aslam – alternating this. Imam Refai will be doing a Tafseer of the Qur’an. Kaiser will start with a lecture on the 5th of September Inshah-Allah.
Every alternate Friday – MYAC youth of Berlin evening with activities and a short inspirational lecture with Kaiser Aslam. Starts on September 5th at 5:30pm after Asr Salat Inshah-Allah
Every Saturday – Sheikh Sami Shamma – Lecture after Maghrib Salat
Every Tuesday – Revert tea and learning with Mike Karpman – if you are new to Islam please email Mike at mike.karpman@karpmanconsulting.net
Every Wednesday – Waleed Al-Ghamdi will have a lecture (khatira) after Maghrib Salat
Qur’an classes – Mondays and Thursdays from 6pm to 7:30pm
Registration for Arabic classes – Saturday August 30th at 1:15pm – Fee – $100 a semester. Classes start on the 1st Saturday of September Inshah-Allah. Semester is from September to mid December.
First day of Sunday Islamic School – September 7th at 10:30am. Please arrive early and get to know your teachers. Late registration will be on September 21st and 28th Inshah Allah
Special events:
‘Pot luck’ dinner on Saturday September 13th from 7pm to 9pm – Hajj workshop with Sheikh Ashraff Ibrahim and Imam Refai Arefin
On Saturday the 30th of August there will be a Muslim voter activism meeting from Asr 5:30pm to 7:30pm. We will have Mongi as an advisor – “Preparing for 2016 election” Grassroots planning.
Visiting scholar program with Ustadh Suleiman Salem (in coordination with MSA CT Council). Lecture at Berlin from 7pm to 10pm on Friday September 26th and class on memorization of the Qur’an 10am to 5pm on Saturday September 27th (charge for class $15 student, $20 adult and $65 for family – boxed lunch provided – there will be babysitting for this program at a nominal cost)

Eid Ul Fitr – Monday 7/29/2014

Monday July 28th – Eid Ul Fitr – Takbeer times 7am, 9am and 11am – prayers will follow within half hour of takbeer times. (Date is per the Fiqh Council of North America)
Eid Carnival August 3rd – Lake Compounce – 10am to 10pm (visit http://www.muslimcoalitionct.org/eid-carnival.html to purchase your subsidized tickets with halal buffet). Deadline for purchasing tickets – July 29th.

Masjid Fundraiser – Saturday July 19

Important dates to remember:
1. Masjid fundraiser in Ramadan – Saturday – July 19th at 5:30pm after Salat-ul Asr. Community Iftar will be served.
2. Qur’an competition – Sunday July 20th from Dhuhr Salat until Asar Salat.
PLEASE NOTE THAT DUE TO PERSISTENT COMPLAINTS FROM OUR NEGHBORS WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO HAVE BASKETBALL AFTER IFTAR. YOUTH WILL BE REQUIRED TO PRAY OR STAY IN THE BABYSITTING AREA OR YOUTH CENTER. . RUNNING AROUND THE MASJID PROPERTY WILL NOT BE ALLOWED.

Ramadan Announcement

Assalaamu-alaikum,

 

Ramadan Mubarak! May Allah shower his choicest blessings on us all this blessed month. I pray he accepts our fasting, our prayers, our dua and our keeping up at night purely and entirely for Him, the all loving the all merciful! May we all come out of this month free of sin and ready to take on the challenges of this life with renewed vigour!

 

Based on the majlis-us-shura of North America – Ramadan will begin on Friday the 27th of June evening. Tharaweeh will start today immediately after Esha.

 

The first fast will be on Saturday 28th June and there will be a community Iftar. You are welcome to join us at Berlin masjid.

 

Activities in Ramadan:

 

The first youth evening will be tomorrow – Saturday the 28th of June with Yale University Chaplain – Omer Bajwa. It will begin at Asar (4:45pm) and end with Iftar. There will be special youth Iftar’s on Saturdayy after each youth evening.

 

Tharaveeh will be led daily by Sheikh Faraghali (hafidh-al Qur’an). Esha will be prayed immediately on its arrival followed by Tharaveeh salat. Khatira by Imam Refai and Imam Sami after 4 raka’at every night

 

Every Friday and Saturday – community Iftar’s – Please see masjid sign up sheet to donate towards this program remembering that feeding those who are fasting is highly recommended by prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

 

Youth events will be hosted on Saturdays in Ramadan – 5:30pm to Iftar.

 

July 19th – Masjid Ramadan Fundraiser – For cemetery and full time Imam – come and hear of the plans for both.5:30pm till Iftar Inshah-Allah

 

Qur’an competition Sunday July 20th from Dhuhr Salat (12:45pm) to Asar Salat (4:45pm). Award ceremony on the 27th night of Ramadan Inshah-Allah!

I hope you and your families are doing well. This is to inform you that we are starting registration for the next academic year 2014-2015, on March 16th from 11:00 am till 12:30 pm. The registration schedule is shown below. Please follow the schedule based on the last name of the family. There are two weeks assigned to each group of alphabets (last name), so make sure you register within specified dates for your family’s last names.
If you cannot register within the specified dates for a valid reason, please contact the school administration.Please note that this year you will only pay for the tuition fee at registration time as follows:Note: If you have any outstanding balance, you will be required to pay that first before registering for next year and you will be making two separate payments in that case.
