IAGH Statement in Response to 4/15/13 Boston Tragedy

The Islamic Association of Greater Hartford and the American Muslim community stands in solidarity with all other faith communities and all Americans in condemning the bombings during the Boston Marathon. Muslims believe that the killing of one person is equivalent to the killing of all humanity as stated in the Qur’an “If anyone slew a person unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land it would be as if he slew the whole of humanity: and if anyone saved a life it would be as if he saved the life of the whole humanity.” (Al-Qur’an 5:32). Therefore it is clear that the taking of life is a huge crime against God and humanity in Islam.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family members of those who were killed and of those who were injured in this tragedy. We stand with the President in condemning in the strongest terms the innocent loss of life.
