Hujjaj Welcome Dinner – 11/22/2013

Assalaamu-alaikum,
Inshah-Allah on the 22nd of November (Friday this week) we would like to invite you to the masjid Hujjaj welcome dinner!
Please welcome anyone who went on the Hajj that you know to this celebratory dinner.
All hujjaj will be given an opportunity to relate a particular experience that they had that would inspire us and there will be a short talk on the importance of making the Hajj.
Please bring a dish to share as this will be a pot-luck event – there will be no charge to attend this program.
Time – 6pm to 8pm

Community Dinner – November 9th In Coordination with Islamic Council of New England

Islamic Association of Greater Hartford will host a community dinner this Saturday the 9th of November 2013 from 6pm to 8pm.

The event is in coordination with the Islamic Council of New England (ICNE).
Location: Islamic Association of Greater Hartford.
Speaker: Imam Yusuf Uthman of Worcester, Massachusetts.
Topic: Gun violence.
Please make every effort to attend.
There will be a $10 charge to cover the cost of food/$5 for students

The Day of Arafat (Monday) and Eid ul Adha (Tuesday)

Assalaamu-alaikum dear brothers and sisters,
As our brothers and sisters who are on the blessed pilgrimage – gather in the plains of Arafat tomorrow, on the most powerful day of the Hajj and Allah descends to the lowest heaven accepting their supplication and they spend the day in supplication, in remembrance of Allah in begging Allah for his forgiveness – let us all spend this day in fasting and remembrance of Allah in solidarity with them and in the hope that we will be there in Arafat next year and let us, especially those who have not gone make sincere plans to be there next year. The day of Arafat will be Monday the 14th of October.
Eid at Berlin masjid (1781 Berlin Turnpike, Berlin) will be celebrated on Tuesday the 15th – Eid Mubarak to you all!
Takbeer times will be at 7am9am and11am – prayer times will be half hour after the takbeer times.
Please plan to be there early. Part of the etiquette of being in the house of Allah is parking appropriately. Please follow the many ushers that will direct you to park legally and with due consideration to the needs of others. May Allah bless those who are helpful to others!
At Berlin masjid we are collecting the poor due of Udhiyah and will distribute it to the poor on your behalf. Please bring your meat in one pound bags and place it in the freezer.
On Eid day we will also be collecting donations for the masjid – suggested donation $20 and we will be collecting Zakat-ul mal for the poor. There are many very poor brothers and sisters that are in dire need and we ask you to please donate generously so Allah will be generous towards you – Inshah-Allah!

No School on Sunday Oct 13th due to Eid-ul Adha

Dear Parents, Assalamu alaikum
Eid Mubarak to you all from the IAGH Weekend School team. I would like to inform you that there is No School On Sunday Oct 13th due to Eid-ul Adha. However, after the school on Sunday the 20th of October there will an ice cream and cup cake celebration of Eid for the youth Inshah-Allah! Please allow your children to enjoy Eid at Berlin masjid and IAGH Weekend School.
Please also note the school timings and school schedule below:
10: 15am……….Managers/Teachers arrive
10:15 -10:30….Students arrive
10:30- 11:35… First Period
11:35- 11:45… Snack/Break
11:45-12:50…..Second Period
12:50-1:05 …….Pizza time
1:05 -1:15……….Wudu time
1:15 ………………..Zuhr Prayer
1:30 pm Dismissal.
Note:
·         Students for Pre-K, KG, Level 1 and level 2 will be handed over to their parents at 1:05 after Pizza.
·         It is a parent’s responsibility to bring them for prayer to the masjid hall.
·         The teachers for level 3 and above will bring the students from their buildings to the main hall (Academy Building) for the Zuhr prayer.
·         The parents are encouraged to join the Zuhr prayer with their younger/older kids in the main hall of the masjid.

Eid ul Adha – Tuesday October 15, 2013

Based on Saudi announcement of the first of Dhul Hijah – Eid ul Adha is on October 15th.
Takbeer times will be at 7am, 9am and 11am. Salat times will be half hour after the Takbeer times.
We will collect Korbani meat in the masjid and distribute it to the poor and needy in our community. We will do this in coordination with the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA). The masjid is open from 4:30pm to 8:30pm daily and will be available to accept meat at this time.
The day of Arafat will be on Monday the 14th of October – it is highly recommended that we fast on this day.
The first ten days of the month of Dhul Hijjah (between today and the 15th of October – day of Eid) are the greatest days of the Islamic year. It is highly recommended to spend your days in increased prayers, supplication, remembrance of Allah and in fasting!
Please donate generously in this month – there are many needy in our community that are in desperate need of our assistance. The masjid is also run on your donations. Please donate on these blessed days!
There will be no Sunday school on the 13th of October.
After Sunday school on the 20th of October there will an ice cream and cup cake celebration of Eid for the youth Inshah-Allah! Please allow your children to enjoy Eid at Berlin masjid.

See what’s happening at Berlin masjid this semester – already started!

Assalaamu-alaikum brothers and sisters,
We had a very successful beginning to the year with the start of Sunday School and I welcome all the families, students, teachers and volunteers back for a semester of fun and learning so we achieve the goal of closeness to Allah.
Here are some of the activities in the masjid I would encourage you to join.
1. Qur’an recitation and memorization classes (age 6 to 20) – every Monday and Thursday from 6pm to 7:30pm – $20/month fee for this class.
2. Arabic classes starting every Saturday from 11am to 1pm from 9/14/13. $100 for each student for the semester (till December). Imam Refai and Sheikh Sami will teach this class.
3. The masjid will be open from 5pm daily until Esha. Hafidh Muhammad will lead salat-ul Asar, Maghrib and Esha daily. Let’s try to fill the masjid daily Inshah-Allah.
4. Community dinner program – Saturday the 14th of September – 6pm to 8pm. Dinner will be on time at 6pm. “Workshop on Hajj” – Sheikh Abu-Ayman together with a coupe and youth presenting their experience of Hajj. There will be a $10 cost for the food ($5 for youth)
5. There will be a Tafseer class every Monday from Esha with Sheikh Mohamed Ghonaim. Starting with the beautiful story of Surat Yusuf!
6. Sunday school from 10:30am till after Dhuhr salat. Please try to pray Dhuhr salat with your kids as Sunday school goes on till then. We have a program of kids leading the sunnah prayer before Dhuhr salat. They lose a valuable lesson if they leave before.
Please take advantage of all the activities the masjid has and let’s make the masjid as vibrant as Ramadan!

Berlin masjid hires new Hafidh Qur’an – masjid will be open from 5pm to Esha daily

Starting from Asar on Monday the 9th of September Hafidh Muhammad will be leading prayers from Asar to Esha daily and the masjid will be open during these times.
Imam Refai will continue leading Maghrib on Tuesdays and Fridays and conduct the khatira at that time.
Hafidh Muhammad’s responsibilities will include:
1. Leading prayers and making sure the masjid is open from Asar (5pm) till Esha (9:00pm). His recitation is beautiful and I welcome you to come to the masjid and hear him recite and be part of the congregational prayers.
2. He will be helping with Qur’an recitation classes on Monday from 6pm to 7:30pm. Remember classes are on Mondays and Thursdays. (There is a $20 charge for this class).
3. He will be present from 12:30pm to 1pm on Fridays and will recite with tajweed.
4. He will recite Qur’an to start off the community dinner program on Saturday September 14th at 6pm Inshah-Allah.
Please come and witness this young and talented hafidh.

Qur’an classes begin on Thursday September 5th at 6pm. Sunday schoole registration on Sunday 8th September at 11am

1. The Qur’anic Arabic memorization and recitation class will start at 6pm on Thursday the 5th of September.
There is a monthly charge of $20 per child. Registration will be at 5:30pm on Thursday the 5th.
Age range – 6yrs to 18yrs.
Venue – Main musalla area.
Dates of classes – Every Monday and Thursday from 6pm to 7:30pm.
2. Registration for those who did not register for the Islamic Sunday school will have one last chance this Sunday the 8th of September –  if room is available.
Sunday school begins this Sunday the 8th of September at 10:30am – promptly please.
Time for final registration will be on Sunday the 8th at 11am.
